This region is located approx 150km northwest from Melbourne with the Carlei Wines vineyards located near the town of Bendigo. This estate is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Viognier. Deep well-drained sandy red clays, coupled with the spring rains and long hours of summer sunshine, are ideal for growing Shiraz and cabernet sauvignon and the region is famous for its rich deeply flavoured varietal wines that display fruit intensity with a ripe firm tannic structure and vinous distinction.
